Is Supriya Pilgaonkar a.k.a Ishwari quitting Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi ?

Supriya Pilgaonkar took to social media to express her disappointment over the way her role is progressing in Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi

Veteran actress Supriya Pilgaonkar is currently seen in Sony Entertainment Television’s Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. The series is a realistic take on the romantic relationship between Dev Dixit (Shaheer Sheikh) and Sonakshi Bose (Erica Fernanades). It talks about their love story and how it impacts his mother,Ishwari (played by Supriya Pilgaonkar), who is extremely possessive about her son.

The show raked in a lot of media attention, recognition from critics and love from viewers during the first few months of its release. However later like all other daily soaps, this one too, went on to adapt the saas bahu drama format. The plot progression and the apparent drift from initial script has left Supriya a bit disappointed. She took to Instagram to vent out her frustration.

She posted a selfie and wrote : “This is the last picture I am posting as Ishwari . I no longer relate to her . Don’t want to waste my time over saas bahu drama.” However, she mentioned in a comment on the same post that she is not quitting the show any time soon as she is committed to the project and will continue playing the character of Ishwari. She wrote ” Guys what I mean is I “HATE” to be in a saas bahu drama simply because I did not sign up as one. Had I taken it up as a saas bahu drama I wouldn’t feel so out of the place..Having said that in future I might even be a part of saas bahu drama “fully knowing what I am getting into then thats fair.” Being on Instagram and being in touch with you guys began with krpkab..I won’t henceforth ever react as Ishwari on insta. For all those who care about me so much let me just say that I will suffer mentally but still do what I am committed to do…play Ishwari for the time being…”

Later while speaking to a leading entertainment portal, she clarified that the post came out of frustration and she is not leaving the show. She confirmed, “I am not quitting. The insta post came out of frustration and nothing else. I am playing a character with some regularity, as promised by the creatives, and a sudden redundant change in script can cause dejection any actor. Don’t we get frustrated with traffic and then share it on social media. Something similar happened with me. I felt an emotion and shared it.”
When asked the real reason of her frustration, she replied, “When initially I signed the project it was not about a saas-bahu saga. In fact, it was a unique concept and character but currently it is progressing like a daily soap. I hate saas-bahu dramas. I would have been happy, if I was initially being told that the show is a saas-bahu drama but Kuch Rang is different and hence I was expecting something different. I don’t blame the creative people as they too need time and a person needs patience to deal with such things.”
She continued, “When I am given the screenplay, sometime the scene is written wonderfully and the next scene comes out to be out of context and hence I don’t feel like enacting it. As an actor I need to justify my role. If I cannot, then restlessness seeps in.”
Supriya is soon going to speak to the makers of the show about it. “I am going to talk to the production house. I have spoken to creatives. I am sure they will understand. Either they will convince me or I will convince them. That are fair people and will come out with a perfect solution. Now, I have decided that social media is not my cup of tea. I am here because my kids (the girls who play her daughters in the show) told me to join and talk to my fans. I feel this is not a place for me,” she concluded.
